Chapter 239: Chapter 239
- ASAMI -
I’m getting impatient. If there’s one thing I hate more than sitting around, it’s being idle without a choice. I’m recuperating, till then, Owen advices I stay hidden. Especially now I’m on the hunt for. I doubt S has let me off that easily. I fling my hand forward, throwing my dagger on a dart board, targeting the center.
It landed right in the middle of the small, red circle. This makes me smirk. I’ve still got it. Asami can’t shrivel up nor lack in training over a short hiatus span. But I have to train more.
It is no doubt that I, especially, have a lot of enemies and I’ve passed the stage of thinking that someone would be my saviour. The sound of metallic clangs of objects make me sneer. Owen is playing with his toys again. It’s either that or he’s worshipping his tools and trust me, after a while in hiding, it gets ridiculously annoying watching him do so.
It’s unbearable. This handsome killer is actually a boring geek sometimes. I roll my eyes, getting up and walking to the dart board. I take my knife out its resting place at the center then head towards Owen.
A half smirk forms on my face as I sight him. As usual, he’s wiping his surgical tools clean with the right disinfectant that won’t leave his tools rusted. Owen turns his head slightly my way to look at me then returns it back to face forward, continuing what he was doing.
My brows narrow for a second before easing up. I let out a sigh. If I’m bored, I might as well create a topic for attention.
“Aw, the love of your life kissed you yet?” I tease, swaying my hips to a side as I refer to his attachment with the tools. They should get married already. If I wasn’t so bored, I’d probably have laughed at my thoughts.
Owen spares me a gaze then returns to doing what he is doing without saying a word. This ticked a nerve. “Hey, Owen.” I call his name, keeping the distance between us. This time, he turns around completely, giving me full advantage of having his undivided attention. A half smile forms on my lips considering what I’m about to do next. “Duck.” I say to him then fling my dagger at him. My target is the center of his forehead.
Owen did not duck. He just stood there, waiting for the dagger to be before him like he was calculating its projection. A hand stops it right before it reached his face, just inches apart.
Secured around the blade is Owen’s bare hands leaking out blood. I giggle at the sight, clapping and giggling child like. “Yayy.” I cheer, maintaining a low harmony with my voice while waltzing around his haven. “You survived my attack.” I add, still walking around till I’m in front of him. The wide smirk on my face is actually hidden boredom but I’m sure he knows that. I take my knife from him, slicing through his clenched palm. “Oh, do I clean that for you? Does it hurt?” I ask mockingly, facading concern.
The half smile he gives me as he exhales briefly makes me scoff. “I’m a doctor, Asami. Cuts turn me on.” Owen admits then turns around. He walks away from me to a cupboard and brings a liquid stored in a jar out along with bandages.
“You’re such a perv.” I say to him.
“Learnt from the best.” He winks at me. By that, he means me. I tut. I am itching to leave this place and do something fun. What is the point of having money and not being able to spend it? I also should be very careful of where I use my cards considering I may be monitored by unfavourable parties.
I groan out loud. “Owen, I’m bored. You can’t keep me locked up in here forever.”
“On the contrary, I can.” He says casually. “But I won’t.”
My face lights up immediately. “Go on. There must be a catch with you.”
A half grin pastes his face as he turns his back on me. “Killian’s uncle’s wife is hosting a banquet. A lot of people will be there, both their son, Killian,”
“Hazel.” I add, cutting him short. I hear a short chuckle and notice him nod.
“You will be there. Keep an eye on Hazel while you’re at it. I need you to find out every single detail about her housing arrangements for the couple few weeks as well as where she’d be.”
“So technically, you want me to stalk her.”
“More or less.”
“And what do I get from this?” There’s a slight annoyance ringing in my tone. That wench got me in this position in the first place. Even if it was my own doing, I won’t have been compelled to do so if she wasn’t in the picture.
“You get to do whatever you want with her. Have your fun. Torture her if you like but don’t kill her.” My jaw clenches at his words. “At least not yet, Asami. She would be a very important asset later to us. We need her alive.”
“And when we don’t?” I ask, itching to know the answer.
“Let the future hold what it will. Focus on the present, Asami.”
I squint, trying to read him. As always, I cannot. It is typical Owen behaviour not to disclose his plans to anyone. For example, he told no one he knows S’ identity. Since I’m bored and have a venomous mind towards Hazel, I will do Owen’s bidding. But once I’ve carried out that plan, I’ll do whatever it takes to get that information out of him. I just need to be careful.
I crack my neck then warm my arms, getting fired up. “It would be a very pleasant reunion.” I murmur under my breath.
