Missing your smile

Chapter 47 Misunderstood

There were undeniably many beautiful women in the Jiang Group. Qin Hui’s eyes were practically watering as he gazed at them walking down the long corridor.

What’s more, the women here were all dressed in a very fashionable manner, creating a vibrant spectacle. Working here would undoubtedly be a form of bliss.

After passing through the long corridor, Qin Hui finally spotted Jin Yan'er. He had felt like a pervert earlier while staring at those urban beauties.

After all, they didn’t know Qin Hui, and seeing his admiring gaze, they naturally labeled him a pervert.

Once everything at the venue was set up, Jin Yan'er breathed a sigh of relief. Just as she was about to have a cup of coffee, she saw Qin Hui.

Their eyes met, and Qin Hui offered a slight smile.

Jin Yan'er was exceptionally beautiful, the kind of person you could spot in a crowd from a distance. Moreover, in her OL uniform, she possessed a unique charm, especially her perfectly straight, long legs, which were incredibly eye-catching.

If Jin Yan'er hadn’t always been by Jiang Yanxi’s side, her allure would likely have been appreciated by many more people.

Upon seeing Qin Hui, Jin Yan'er hesitated for a moment before walking over. After all, she needed to apologize for her previous misjudgment. If she offended this major shareholder, her life here would become difficult.

“Mr. Qin, do you need something from me?” Jin Yan'er asked, her expression a little nervous.

Hearing Jin Yan'er's address, Qin Hui couldn't help but let out a dry cough.

“Just call me Qin Hui. I’m not some Mr. CEO.” Qin Hui said with a serious expression.

“This, this might not be appropriate.” Jin Yan'er was taken aback, thinking Qin Hui had come to hold her accountable.

“It’s nothing. You know my relationship with your General Manager, you understand. You’re her most capable assistant, so don’t be so formal with me.” Qin Hui said warmly and concernedly.

“Okay, alright.” Jin Yan'er was a bit uneasy, not entirely believing everything Qin Hui had said.

After all, Qin Hui’s demeanor was too gentle. She had previously assumed he was an actor hired by the General Manager. This sudden shift in identity made it difficult for her to adjust.

“There’s still some time before the press conference. How about I treat you to a meal?” Qin Hui invited with a sincere expression.

“Ah?”

“Treat me to a meal?” Jin Yan'er was somewhat surprised.

“Of course. What’s the matter, you wouldn’t even grant me this small favor?”

“Actually, it’s nothing much. I just wanted to ask you about Yanxi. You’re the person closest to her recently. If I want to win Yanxi over, shouldn’t I win you over first?” Qin Hui said with an air of admiration.

After hearing Qin Hui’s explanation, Jin Yan'er felt much more relieved.

“Alright. I know a restaurant nearby, and their pickled fish is quite good.” Since Qin Hui seemed to need her help, Jin Yan'er felt much more at ease, at least having the initiative on her side.

Soon, the two got into a car and headed towards a nearby restaurant.

About ten minutes later, they arrived at the restaurant. Because it was afternoon, many people were dining.

Qin Hui expected to wait a long time, but the owner enthusiastically ushered Qin Hui and Jin Yan'er into a private room.

Qin Hui later learned that Jin Yan'er had a very good relationship with the owner of the establishment. Furthermore, the owner’s son had been placed in the company by Jin Yan’er, so the owner had specially reserved a private room for her.

“I didn’t expect you to have such good connections,” Qin Hui said admiringly.

“It’s alright. If you work for General Jiang, you have to be smart. Otherwise, my position would have been taken by someone else long ago,” Jin Yan'er said, more relaxed now, with a slight complaint.

“Don’t worry. You’re so beautiful and capable. Jiang Yanxi would probably have to search with a lantern to find someone like you,” Qin Hui complimented her casually.

As they chatted, Jin Yan'er also relaxed considerably. She had initially thought Qin Hui, as a major shareholder, would be very imposing, but upon closer interaction, she found him to be quite refined.

Meanwhile, Qin Hui subtly inquired about Jiang Yanxi. Jiang Yanxi could never have imagined that her most trusted secretary would one day betray her.

Not long after they started talking, a large pot of pickled fish was served, emitting a fragrant aroma.

Qin Hui had expected Jin Yan'er’s taste to be quite delicate, but he was surprised to see that the pickled fish she ordered contained a lot of chili. It seemed she was a spicy girl after all.

Smelling the delicious aroma, neither of them stood on ceremony and began to eat.

Just as Qin Hui was halfway through his meal, Jin Yan'er’s phone rang. Seeing the name on the caller ID, Jin Yan'er’s brow furrowed slightly.

Jin Yan'er gestured to Qin Hui, took out her phone, and went outside to answer it.

As Jin Yan'er left the room, Qin Hui could hear her impatient voice, as if dealing with some trivial matter.

Qin Hui chuckled helplessly while eating his fish, musing that having overly sensitive ears wasn't always a good thing.

After a short while, Jin Yan'er hung up and re-entered the private room. Although she tried her best to conceal the helplessness on her face, Qin Hui noticed it.

“Are you alright?” Qin Hui asked with concern.

“I’m fine. Let’s continue eating.” Jin Yan'er waved her hand and resumed eating with Qin Hui.

Seeing that Jin Yan'er's spirits were low, Qin Hui quickly ate a few more bites and prepared to pay the bill.

However, just as Qin Hui stood up, the door to the private room was burst open.

“Hmph!”

“Jin Yan'er, how dare you lie to me and say you were working overtime! You two lovebirds are out having fun, and now I’ve caught you red-handed!”

“I was wondering why I hadn’t seen you recently; it turns out you have a lover.”

“Don’t try to argue. I just saw you get out of his Porsche. I never expected you to be such a materialistic woman. Have dogs eaten your heart?”

A young man in a white shirt barged in, shouting angrily.

“Chen Ming, stop this. Why are you always like this? It’s not as complicated as you think!” Jin Yan'er was extremely exasperated. She truly didn’t understand why Chen Ming had become like this; he had never acted this way in college.

“I’m causing a scene? Heh, Jin Yan'er, show some dignity! Caught in the act with another man, and you still dare to quibble? There aren’t many shameless people like you in this world.”

Chen Ming was furious, his expression as if he had a vast green grassland growing on his head.

Qin Hui stood by, feeling speechless. Just as he was about to explain, Jin Yan'er interrupted him.

“Chen Ming, since that’s what you think, fine. Today I’ll tell you. Yes, I am messing around with another man. What are you going to do about it?”

“What right do you have to control me?”

“From this moment on, we go our separate ways!”

After saying this, Jin Yan'er stormed out in anger.

Seeing this, Qin Hui could only follow her out. Qin Hui had initially wanted to explain, but seeing Chen Ming’s frenzied state, he chose to remain silent.

There was no point in reasoning with a madman. Qin Hui found it somewhat amusing that a simple meal had led to such a misunderstanding.

It seemed Chen Ming’s inner world was too fragile. Someone like him would never be able to keep Jin Yan'er.
