Chapter 381 Traces of the Mask

Shen Xi's heart jolted, and she raised her fist to strike him.

Qin Si Ye gently pushed her onto the ward bed, holding her flailing hands. "Stop struggling. Otherwise, Grandma will be woken up by you."

She forcefully broke free from his grip and glanced at Xu Zhilan's bed. As expected, the elder had stopped moving.

However, the moment Qin Si Ye straightened up, Shen Xi also sat up abruptly, glaring at him furiously. She suppressed her voice and said, "Qin Si Ye, how are you going to explain today's events? Your promises are all null and void, aren't they?"

Qin Si Ye understood what she was referring to. His eyes deepened as he looked at her. "We'll talk about that matter when we have time. I'll grant you whatever you want. I'm going to get Grandma's test results now."

With that, he strode out of the room.

What did he mean by that? Grant her whatever she wanted?

Did he mean to compensate for that kiss with something?

As Qin Si Ye exited the room, he saw the rest of the Qin family standing by the doorway. Qin Si Yue had also arrived at some point.

"Brother, how is Grandma?" Upon seeing Qin Si Ye, she immediately walked over, her face etched with worry, and took his arm.

"She's asleep," Qin Si Ye replied indifferently. He then looked at the others. "You should all go back. I'll arrange for a caregiver and bodyguards to come."

Of the people at the door, apart from Si Yue, Grandma likely wouldn't want to see anyone else, and seeing them would only upset her more.

The group exchanged glances and had no choice but to leave.

Qin Si Yue tiptoed and peered inside through the long, narrow glass panel on the door. "Brother, where's Xi Jie?"

"She's a little tired and resting too," Qin Si Ye replied, looking back at her. "Come with me to get the test results."

Qin Si Yue knew her brother was trying to prevent her from disturbing Grandma and Xi Jie. She quickly and thoughtfully said, "Brother, I can get the test results myself. You stay here and keep them company."

"Alright." A flicker of light flashed in Qin Si Ye's dark eyes. Just as Qin Si Yue turned, he opened his mouth and asked, "How is Han Hao Ming's mother?"

Qin Si Yue paused. "She's much better. Eating and talking are fine. It's just that her limbs are still a bit stiff, and she can't move them."

"Oh." Qin Si Ye continued, "Has Han Hao Ming's attitude towards you changed?"

Han Hao Ming. Qin Si Yue lowered her head to ponder.

If she said his attitude had changed, there was always a hint of distance in his eyes. If she said it hadn't, what about him gently wiping her sweat at his home, and that princess carry?

"It's alright, I guess," Qin Si Yue replied vaguely, unable to make a judgment. "Brother, I won't talk to you anymore. I'll go get Grandma's report."

Qin Si Ye's gaze lingered on her hastily retreating back for a few seconds. He unlocked his phone and made a call.

Then, he walked over to the nurse's station and found a meticulous caregiver.

When he pushed open the ward door and stepped inside again, he found Shen Xi curled up on the ward bed, already asleep.

The room was air-conditioned to about twenty degrees Celsius. How could she have fallen asleep without anything to cover herself?

Qin Si Ye walked over with a pang of heartache. He immediately picked up the quilt from the bedside and gently covered her.

As he pulled the quilt up to her neck, Qin Si Ye's hand paused. He looked at a strand of hair that had fallen across her eyes and gently lifted his hand to tuck it behind her ear.

At this moment, Shen Xi's face was turned to the side. He was no more than a foot away from her face. The traces of the mask around her ears instantly caught his eye.

No wonder she always wore her hair down. The secret was here. If one didn't observe closely at such proximity, it would be truly imperceptible.

Qin Si Ye couldn't help but reach out and caress her cheek, longing to peel off this mask and see her true face.

Every night, he looked at the processed photograph he had of them, which not only failed to alleviate his longing but only deepened his melancholy.

"Qin Si Ye!" At this moment, Shen Xi stirred suddenly and called out his name.

The man's heart jolted. He immediately retracted his hand, quickly retreated to a stool not far from her, and sat up straight.
