Chapter 86: A Master Swordsman Vs A Dragon
As soon as Alarion said to begin I could see a yellow aura forming around Sylas, some sort of manifestation of his power or maybe his talent?
Clang!!! Within an instant I felt the swords edge clashing against my gauntlet as I instinctively block. The blade didn’t do any damage against the gauntlet just yet but I could feel the power pressing into it.
"I’m real curious about what rank you really are. This is quite an interesting defense." Sylas says with a bit of interest in his voice.
"It isn’t anything special..." I reply while starting to struggle to hold back against the sword.
Sizzle. A new burning sensation started to go throughout my arms as I noticed that the sword was the cause. He’s got something hotter than the sensation of my own damn power?
No wonder he’s an SS rank. Having solar based power like his is definitely the trait of a hunter that deserves the rank.
Solar based power? You’re saying that he has something that gives him strength from the sun? How am I supposed to combat something like that!?!?
"You’ve figured out a bit of my power, haven’t you? I don’t mind. It’ll make this a bit more interesting." Sylas says before taking a step back.
The pain was still resonating in my arm as I look down at the gauntlet where the scales were already focusing on reforming. Solar power like that was no joke so I couldn’t underestimate him.
"I’ve got an idea on how it works. Not entirely sure about it completely." I respond, a bit uncertain what else he is capable of doing.
"I’ll be happy to show you, just don’t disappoint me." Sylas says with a smile as he begins to change his stance.
Putting some power into my movement without bringing out the wings would be the next smartest move here. I think he’s about to use a strong attack himself so getting the jump on him would be the best plan.
I dashed forward as I felt the speed transfer into my feet, soaring throughout the air with my right hand reeled back. As I swing my fist towards him I can feel it suddenly stop when it connects with something.
"Aurora guard. A good defense technique I developed." Sylas says while spinning his sword in a circle.
My hand was caught against a barrier made of the same yellow aura that was around him. It also burned my hand like crazy before I could move it away.
I wasn’t going to let up on the attack so I decided to embrace the pain and let loose. A flurry of punches with the gauntlet against the barrier.
1, 4, 8, 12, 18. The punches kept rising with more and more speed. It wasn’t hard to keep the power rising as well but I didn’t want to lose control.
Letting anything show that I was a dragon would just make me more of a target.
Sylas just kept spinning his sword as he observed me. "Do you think you’ll break through my defense?" Sylas asks curiously.
There was no need for me to answer him since this was a test of strength after all. Fwoosh! I used my speed to get behind him, with hope that the barrier was primarily in front of him.
I swung my fist towards his back with a bit of power imbued within it. Bam!!! My hit sends him forward as he hangs into his sword, sending him towards the door across the room.
He plunged his sword into the ground to slow himself down before reaching the door. He was definitely a lot smarter and stronger than I expected.
An SS rank swordsman like him is definitely going to take quite a bit of effort to beat Rokuro.
I’d say he’s a master swordsman with just the basic stuff I’ve seen alone. I’ll put in as much effort as I can without making anything obvious.
It’s already hard enough to keep from showing anything. The scales want to form more and more but I’ve been holding them back.
You’re doing a great job so don’t let it overwhelm you. The power you’re using should be enough to give a good fight at the very least.
That’s more than enough for me then.
"Seems you have some remarkable speed to you as well, this is getting better and better by the second." Sylas says after lifting his sword out from the ground.
"I wouldn’t want to disappoint anyone here." I respond while lifting my fists.
He wipes his coat off before disappearing, it was only a second but I lost sight of him.
Clang! Clang!! Suddenly he was swinging his sword at me out of nowhere. I just barely managed to block against each one of his attacks so far.
I can feel the blade slashing through my gauntlet each time, it wasn’t holding up very well anymore. The solar power he possesses is a lot more than I can handle without being at full strength.
"Don’t tell me you are holding back against me, please don’t underestimate me." Sylas says with a bit of irritation in his voice.
I held back against the blade once more as I used my left hand to reinforce my defense. There wasn’t a lot I could do without pushing myself a bit more, does it really matter if some more leaks through?
As long as you can keep yourself in control without letting your appearance change, you can push more power out.
I’d like to say I’m pretty confident in my ability to control it properly but it just worries me that I might kill someone by accident. Originally you told me that I wasn’t strong enough to face against them yet...
So I’m kind of at a crossroad with what to do since I’m weaker than them technically but I can also be stronger than them at the same time...
"If you’re intent on losing, then don’t show more of your power. People will always disappoint." Sylas says before taking a step back.
A bright light begins to blind me as he lifts his sword up into the air.
What the hell is he doing now?
