Chapter 128: The Return of Monsters

Chapter 128: The Return of Monsters

My fists were already raised in the air while my Eclipse stance was in play, I wasn’t going to take any chances with them. We were all ready to fight against them either way which was good.

The monsters weren’t making any moves, that was the complicated part about this whole predicament.

We don’t know if they are going to ambush us the moment we strike so it is quite the risk right now. I can feel the power surging throughout my body again so maybe I can utilize enough speed to do something.

"What are we doing here?" Akina asks as she grips her pistol tighter.

"I’d say that we are going to have to fight them." I answer with a serious tone.

Your power should be capable of dealing with them, even if they are evolved monsters.

As long as you think I can take them... Then I’m pretty confident that I’ll do just fine against them. I just don’t know if they are capable of doing anything else or if they will just rely on physical attacks.

I know some monsters have ranged attacks so it can be better to be cautious sometimes.

That’s true. No one here knows anything about them since they are a brand new monster.

Exactly. It’ll take some time to figure out the best way to handle them or maybe it won’t.

We are all pretty damn strong so I don’t think there’s any reason for us to try to figure out anything. Unless are attacks are pointless against them without figuring out a weakness.

That’d be the only way I could think it would be a problem.

Bang!!! The sound of Akina’s pistol brought my attention back towards the situation at hand as the bullet pierced right through its chest.

The monster didn’t seem phased by the attack much and just looked down at the ground where its black blood was leaking. This was probably the best time to attack since it didn’t expect any of that.

"There’s more around us, don’t let them catch you off guard! We attack now!" I shout before charging towards the one ahead.

It has been awhile since I faced off against any monsters so this was a nice change of pace after everything that’s happened. Dealing with strong people instead of monsters can be such a huge pain in the ass.

But I let the talons form as I ran towards the monster, winding back my fist right before I reached it. Pow!!! As my fist connected with it I could feel a big burst of wind blow past me in every direction.

The impact was definitely there but the monster didn’t seem to be moving much. It was actually looking down at me so I quickly took a few steps back.

A monster like that just tanking the hit and then staring at me is kind of disturbing. I don’t really know what to do about it yet since it was only the first punch I threw.

It wasn’t a weak punch either which is the thing that shocks me most, how strong is this monster?

I can hear the fighting all around me as the others also give it their all to fight against the monsters. One glance around told me that they all look the exact same as well so what is the problem?

Akina’s bullets were doing damage, Velia’s blade was cutting through them, and Ghost was also doing damage against them. Why did it feel like my attack was the only one that was ineffective.

I think the monster is just going to need stronger attacks for it to be effective. The others are using actual weapons while you rely on your fists.

Is that really what the problem at hand is? My fists aren’t enough to handle a monster like this now?

Your fists are strong but you need to put even more power into them or maybe you can utilize the talons to slice through it. I could be wrong but it is just a suggestion.

I’ll give it a try since there’s not really a whole lot else that I can do against a monster like that anyway.

I rushed in once again while preparing to dodge an attack that never even came. I threw my right hand towards it with my talon out and as it connected I could see it cut across its body.

Without wasting a second I winded back my left hand and threw a punch towards it with more power than before. BAM!!!! A big shockwave went past this time as it fell a couple feet back, stumbling about for a moment.

"Humans...." It mutters with a bit of a distorted tone.

Am I hearing things or did the monster sound like it said something? It was kind of hard to tell, even with my hearing being amplified like it is.

I guess it doesn’t matter since they need to die anyway.

The fighting I was hearing around me originally had finally died down so it must be safe to assume that the monsters were dealt with. Akina’s gun was no longer firing and I couldn’t hear swords hitting anything anymore.

So I should take the chance to finish my fight as well since I don’t want to see if this monster has any tricks up its sleeve.

I focused on putting as much power into my right hand as possible so that I could hopefully end this fight in the next punch. Breathe in, breathe out. You can do this.

Crack!! I pushed my foot off of the ground and found myself in front of the monster again within seconds, my fist was already going towards it. POW!!!! Everything felt like it was breaking around me for a moment until I realized that the monster was completely gone, nothing remained except for it’s feet.

I was seriously expecting something to come from these monsters so now I’m kind of confused. Was i worried about it for nothing?

I turned around to see how the others were and they were just fine as well. The monsters were all dead on the floor.

Was it really not that bad of a fight for us to handle anyway? It seemed like it was going to be a pretty tough fight but they didn’t even get a chance to fight back.

Something feels off about this whole thing and I can’t quite figure out what it is just yet.

Maybe it was just easy because your whole group is strong as hell. Even Ghost is a lot stronger than she used to be.

I guess that’s a possibility, I just didn’t expect it to look that strong and then die like nothing ever happened to begin with.

Most monsters have at least fought back so it just has me a bit surprised, that’s all. I’ll take the easy fight any day though so it isn’t that big of a deal...

"Seems they weren’t that strong after all." Akina speaks loud enough for everyone to hear.

"I agree!" Ghost shouts with a bit of enthusiasm.

"There wasn’t enough enjoyment since it died so quickly." Velia says with disappointment.

Seems everyone else is in agreement about how the fight went. Them being this weak was a shock and a bit disappointing.

Personally I think it is good that they were weak so we can continue on our quest to deal with those assholes. They are the main problem at hand to begin with so monsters are the priority.

I’ll definitely remember these guys though since they had quite the disgusting look to them.

I’d say that we definitely need some sort of name for the poor thing.

Poor thing? Don’t you think they are pretty damn ugly as well!?

I mean yes but it still deserves a name.

I’ll figure one out as we continue our walk since we have to keep going anyway. We’ll have plenty of time to figure a name out, unless another hunter beats us to the punch.

I let my appearance restore itself back to normal as the others caught back up with me again.

"Are we continuing on then?" Ghost asks with a bit of excitement.

This was the first time I’ve seen her somewhat excited in awhile. It’s kind of odd actually.

"Yeah. I’d suggest keeping our weapons out though since we know monsters are around now." I suggest while glancing around briefly.

"I planned on it anyway." Velia responds with her usual monotone voice.

Something is definitely off though... I just can’t quite figure out what it is. It is really starting to bug the shit out of me though.

Just focus on the mission at hand Rokuro. If it is important, it’ll come to you anyway.

Ughhh. You are probably right, I’ll worry about it later I suppose. We need to deal with those guys before more people get hurt.

Stomp!! Stomp!!

"Do you guys feel that?" Ghost asks with a bit of worry noticeable in her voice.
