Chapter 122: The Angel (6)
I’m always striving to get stronger and stronger with each day that passes but I never consider what will happen to my body. Just pushing it till it gives out every time is probably one of the worst things for me to do.
That’s how I end up blacking out so it would be smart to see what my limits are each time.
Of course breaking through them requires the extra push to get stronger but it will always take a huge toll on me.
"What do you want to do?" Rika asks with curiosity in her voice.
"My friends need me. I’d say that heading back is the plan." I answer while standing up.
"You sure that’s the way to go about it?" Rika questions with a bit of concern.
"Yes." I respond with confidence.
I won’t keep everyone waiting while I’m in this strange abyss, they need me out there. My body is still out there with the enemy anyway so it would be best to return.
"Alright, time to wake up then." Rika says with a smile.
Everything around me disappeared as I jolted up, seeing that the fight was still going on. Velia was now helping fight again with her sword against him while Akina also moved in to fight up close.
My body still feels weak after that last move he pulled, the room wide nullification. It won’t change my determination to win this fight against him.
He’s also still dripping blood everywhere as he fights against the two of them so maybe it is slowing him down. The damage I’ve done to him with Akina has to be taking a toll.
I forced myself to stand back up as my legs begin to wobble, slowly the feeling of my blood starting to boil was returning. That means my power is already starting to come back after all that.
Nullification isn’t permanent, it just works as a nice temporary solution. Smart people use it before quickly eliminating their targets.
Obviously he didn’t care to eliminate me as quickly as possible or I’d already be dead. He’s toying with us since he knows that he has the ability to nullify our power at any time.
Unless... is there any limits to it?
Usually it takes a lot of power to do something so large-scale like he did. Not everyone can afford to use the power like that.
I’m sure even an angel has limits to how much he can use before getting tired himself. Most are bound to have a limit before getting fatigued, unless there is something I’m missing here.
"Rokuro! You are finally up and moving again!" He shouts with a bit of excitement as his gaze shifts to me.
Akina and Velia are still going at him as he watches me, does he have no respect for them? Velia seems like she is getting close enough to slice him with her sword but yet nothing is happening.
Did the barrier reform while I was in the abyss?
"You’re really annoying." I respond with a bit of frustration.
Crack. Crack. After cracking both my knuckles I began to run towards him once again. There isn’t nearly as much power for me to use against him but that won’t stop me from fighting.
The others have been fighting, even without the full extent of their powers... so I will too.
As I reach him I extend my fist to punch him but immediately I’m met with the barrier from before. A small ripple went throughout the barrier as I stepped back, feeling a sharp pain within my hand.
"Doesn’t seem like you’ll be able to break through the barrier again. Why don’t we just end this fight already?" The Angel suggests with the smile still plastered across his face.
I really can’t stand the idea of losing to this piece of shit so what the hell can I do to win this fight? Surely there’s got to be a way for me to win...
My body is already well beyond it’s limits today with the amount of power I used in that one punch earlier alone.
Rika is also being quiet again after I left the abyss... I hope she doesn’t pull the disappearing act on me again. I could use her help in these fights going forward.
Don’t go worrying about me. I’m not gone so don’t worry about me.
It was just too quiet. Usually you have some thoughts to share with me about what’s going on or about how to win the fight at hand.
I’m also thinking of a way for us to bring this back into our favor. Angels are definitely above us in terms of ranking so it is definitely not an easy win.
But we’ve also managed to do damage to him with all of the recent attacks. Maybe a game of endurance is at play.
So you are thinking that we just need to outlast him in this battle? It is definitely possible but it would also depend on if he attacks us with that light again or not.
That attack could be devastating at this point in time with my power being as low as it is.
Ghost is also still out of the fight right now so I don’t really know how to avoid a potential risk like that. The biggest thing in our favor is the fact that it is a 3v1 right now.
Take advantage of what we do have. Keep pushing him while watching for his next attack.
Seems like I know what the best approach is for the rest of this battle. I’ll use the power I have to give me some speed instead of pushing the power into my strength.
Usually it would be easy to balance it throughout my whole body but I’m pretty damn drained.
Akina was looking my way with a look of concern across her face but there was no reason to worry. I could feel the power surging in my feet once again so it was time to utilize the speed again.
