Chapter 31 Unexpected

"Thinking of this, Tyche rallied her spirits and advised, 'Aphrodite, perhaps love loses its initial fervor with time, but it is certainly real!'

'Love is real, and the pain after losing it is also real. Disguise is merely a weapon for defense; do not let the mask on your face deceive your heart.'

Aphrodite clearly understood Tyche's meaning and forced a smile to cover her embarrassment.

'Moro is not a suitable deity for Hera. Marriage should not involve transactions and sacrifices. If one abandons their own will for kinship, such a marriage will inevitably lead to death.'

'I have told you very clearly that Hera only conceives the crystallization of love in a happy marriage. If the birth of a new god does not carry the love of his parents, then he will not be a choice worthy of your love.'

The goddess of love became serious, 'Then what about Menoetius? I truly believe that the union of the God of Courage and the Goddess of Marriage will be blessed with love.'

Menoetius, the God of Courage, was the youngest child of Iapetus and the brother of Prometheus. What made this candidate particularly strange to Tyche was that Aphrodite had once been forced by the former Queen Rhea to become Menoetius's wife. Tyche's first reaction upon hearing this name was that Aphrodite was seeking revenge, but the goddess of love's eyes were filled with sincerity at this moment. It was like a replay of yesterday, only the male protagonist remained the same, while the female protagonist's choice had subtly changed.

'Marriage requires courage, and facing the reality of marriage and maintaining it also requires courage. In that sense, Menoetius is indeed a suitable candidate.'

After a moment of thought, Tyche understood Aphrodite's intention. The God of Courage was a lesser deity, lower in divine rank than Hera, who was a mid-tier deity. However, the power of marriage was not good at fighting, and Menoetius was stronger than Hera in terms of power, creating a balance between them.

'This concerns your opportunity to be promoted to a powerful deity. I don't think you would take this matter as a joke due to your old grievances with Rhea.'

Pausing, Tyche decided to trust Aphrodite, 'Create opportunities for them. Remember! Do not interfere too much with your power. Everything must be done according to their wishes!'

Tyche had already experienced the consequences of carelessly matchmaking; the children produced by Styx were a bloody lesson.

Tyche returned to the Invisible Island, and Philyra immediately reported Eurynome's visit to the chief god.

Tyche's heart skipped a beat. She initially thought that Eurynome had found out about the creation of children by the goddess of fate and had come to speak up for Pallas. But then she remembered that Zeus and Hecate were not the type to gossip. What matter would her sister, who had already dissolved her marital ties with the god of growth, need her help with?

With such doubts, Tyche met the anxious Eurynome. Since Tyche had connected her marriage with the god of growth, Crius, to her avatar Euribia, the nymph of the waves, who had been freed from her marriage, had indulged in a period of unrestrained behavior. According to gossip from the rainbow nymphs, Eurynome had a brief affair with Poseidon. It was unclear whether it was to retaliate against Demeter for taking Crius away, but Eurynome's attitude towards the goddess of abundance was clearly not friendly.

However, Eurynome, who represented the abundance of the ocean, and Demeter already had overlapping divine duties. It was just that Demeter's abundance was reflected in fruits and crops, and she intentionally avoided direct conflict with Eurynome.

'My dear sister, mistress of waves and tides, why are you so anxious?'

Eurynome paced anxiously on the beach. Upon seeing Tyche arrive, the joy on her face surged like the waves beneath her feet.

'Tyche, come with me quickly!' Eurynome pulled Tyche without further explanation, intending to head into the sea.

Tyche quickly stopped the anxious goddess, 'Eurynome, calm down and tell me what happened.'

'It's Metis, something is wrong with Metis!'

Eurynome cried out urgently, 'She became pregnant after being struck by lightning, and now she is about to give birth!'

Tyche was bewildered, 'You mean Zeus made Metis pregnant?'

'I don't know. You should ask Metis yourself!'

Although she was quite sure that this was not Zeus's initiative, only the person involved had the right to speak about the facts! After ascertaining Metis's whereabouts, Tyche opened a portal to the Temple of Tethys.

Since Tethys and Oceanus had retired together, the bustling temple in the sea had become desolate. Out of respect, the sea goddesses did not reside in their mother's temple, and only Metis was there at this time.

'Wise Metis, please tell me who the father of the child in your womb is?'

Facing Tyche's sharp question, the goddess of wisdom did not get angry but said helplessly, 'I cannot be sure. The lightning strike brought a life force to me, and because of it, I conceived this child.'

Tyche remembered that Zeus had obtained the divinity of life under her guidance, and she felt ashamed.

Lightning, possessing the power of life, could indeed result in such an outcome. It awakens life and brings new birth, not to mention that after defeating Crius, the god of growth, Zeus had obtained all the divine offices in the domain of life from the defeated god.

Tyche looked at the pained Metis awkwardly and stammered, 'Such a situation can indeed happen. What are your plans now?'

'Do not tell anyone about this secret!' the goddess of wisdom groaned in pain. 'The gods only need to know that this child was conceived by me alone.'

Metis had long foreseen the attention this child's parentage would attract. Zeus might protect this child, born because of him, out of their past connection. However, Leto and her children would certainly not welcome this child. If this matter were not kept secret, goddesses who craved power would surely emulate her in conceiving the offspring of a god-king. After all, with her as a precedent, who wouldn't be tempted by such a profitable venture?

In order to prevent such chaos, Zeus might not even spare Tyche's feelings. Even if Metis were innocent, she would have to accept a punishment that would make the gods fear!

For her own safety and that of her child, Metis had not wanted to tell anyone about this matter. However, the burden of carrying the child forced her to seek the help of her sisters. She sought Tyche to obtain a guarantee that this secret would not be leaked, but Tyche needed to provide protection!"
