The banquet, which had been a rollercoaster of events, finally drew to a close. After transferring the succession of the Primordial God position to her mother, Tyche, accompanied by her son, departed Mount Othrys under the escort of her subordinate deities.
Life as a Primordial God was no different from before. The gods revered Tyche's power and would not be foolish enough to offer themselves as sacrifices to establish the new Primordial God's authority at this juncture. Thus, the sea gods lived very peacefully, unaffected by the succession of the Primordial God position.
The dryads' joy had continued since the Primordial God's return, their radiant smiles never ceasing.
The tranquil life on the Invisible Islands satisfied the nymphs. They did not wish to endure any upheaval, only to continue their simple lives under Tyche's protection.
However, the nymphs' hopes were ultimately dashed. The peace on the Invisible Islands was shattered by the news brought by the Rainbow Goddess.
"Your Highness!" Iris, who arrived in a hurry, called out anxiously to the Primordial God outside the temple, her face filled with shock.
Arke, who served Tyche, quickly reprimanded her impulsive sister. Tyche, awakened by their clamor, opened the temple doors to inquire what had happened.
"It is Mnemosyne, Your Highness! She has announced that she will cede her Primordial God position to Aphrodite. The gods are in an uproar, and the other Primordial Gods are convening a meeting to decide the succession of the Primordial God position!"
Tyche raised an eyebrow, understanding dawning in her mind. Gaia had increased her leverage with Eos! It was a pity for the Goddess of Memory; her decision to cede the Primordial God position was certainly not heartfelt, likely due to Gaia's coercion. After all, among the twelve Titan Primordial Gods, she was the only one without allies, making her the easiest to manipulate. Tyche felt a pang of sympathy. Mnemosyne knew she was weak and alone, which was why she sought the Earth Mother's favor. She had worked hard for so long, enduring hardships if not earning merits. Gaia's betrayal was truly a model for the gods, and the gods' heartlessness likely stemmed largely from this goddess's inherited bloodline.
Arke gasped, her beautiful face losing its color, and she turned to look at the calm Primordial God. Tyche, her expression unchanged, quietly instructed the goddesses to prepare her solemn attire. The flustered Rainbow Goddesses then calmed down and busied themselves apologizing for their lapse in composure.
Tyche gestured for her two subordinate deities to rise and quickly returned to the temple. Arke busied herself instructing Philyra to have the Erinyes harness the chariot and fetch Tyche's clothing with her sister.
The goddess donned her elaborate robes, adorned herself with heavy and luxurious jewels, and ascended the white falcon chariot, surrounded by her subordinate deities. Kannas and Zeus led the way for their mother. Dark clouds and hurricanes swept in, and rumbling thunder startled birds and beasts.
The assembled gods on Mount Othrys respectfully made way for Tyche and her entourage. Tyche's sharp and stern gaze fell upon the two main figures.
Aphrodite, exuding charm wantonly, held her head high with pride. Her swan-like elegant neck was fully exposed, drawing the ardent gazes of the male gods.
The subordinate deities respectfully escorted the three deities to the Primordial God's throne, standing behind Tyche.
The King and Queen of the Gods made a rare appearance at the meeting. Tyche kept her gaze straight ahead, while Kannas and Zeus stood beside their mother, maintaining a dignified demeanor.
Cronus, as the King of the Gods, took charge of the proceedings without hesitation. "The gods have gathered here to decide whether Mnemosyne, the Goddess of Memory, is justified in choosing to pass on her Primordial God position to the Goddess of Love. What are the opinions of the Primordial Gods?"
The change in the Primordial God position already had Tyche as a precedent. Although they craved power, the gods would not deny the legitimacy of Tyche's succession. Perhaps this opportunity might fall upon them one day.
The Titans' expressions were grim, clearly unable to accept the Goddess of Memory's actions. Mnemosyne's face was expressionless, but her tightly gripped scepter revealed her inner turmoil.
Tyche had already considered her stance on the way. She inquired of the Goddess of Memory with concern, "Your Highness Mnemosyne, why do you wish to cede your Primordial God position to the Goddess of Love?"
The covetous gods immediately pricked up their ears, hoping to learn her selection criteria from the Goddess of Memory.
Mnemosyne pursed her lips and said with a hoarse voice, "The divine office of love allows all living beings on earth to multiply and has played a crucial role in the world's advancement."
"But your divine office of memory is also indispensable! All beings derive their self-awareness from memory. Your contribution to the world is no less than that of any other deity!"
Tyche feigned confusion, "Aphrodite only possesses medium divine power. Can she, who has only recently been born, bear the responsibilities of a Primordial God?"
"I am simply tired and wish to rest, just like my sister," Mnemosyne evaded Tyche's question, refusing to mention the Goddess of Love's inability to handle the responsibility.
Tyche was speechless and turned to look at Themis beside her.
Themis, the Goddess of Justice, furrowed her brow. Her eyes, covered by a white cloth, could not see clearly. This goddess, who governed the divine office of truth, undoubtedly knew that her sister was not speaking the whole truth.
The golden sword in Themis's hand stirred restlessly but then drooped in defeat as Mnemosyne evaded the question.
The Titan gods all looked at the smug Aphrodite with dangerous eyes. The Goddess of Love, under the pressure of the Primordial Gods, wavered precariously. Just as she was about to falter, the Primordial Gods, as if in agreement, withdrew their oppressive aura and looked indifferently at the disheveled goddess.
The Goddess of Love, her hair disheveled, glared at them with anger. The golden belt at her waist emitted an invisible magic, causing the gods, who had been watching coldly, to feel pity and affection for the delicate goddess before them.
Tyche, annoyed by the gods' bewildered gazes, waved her hand, and a gust of cold wind awakened the deities who had been manipulated by the power of desire. The gods, indulging in pleasure, possessed no willpower whatsoever, and the Goddess of Love's power was exceptionally effective on them.
Tyche, with a furrowed brow, declared loudly, "My mother, Tethys, the eldest of the Titans, entrusted the Primordial God position to me because I command the gods of the sea and am deeply trusted by them!"
"Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Beauty, what is your reason for obtaining the Primordial God position?"
"I was born from the divinity of Uranus, the first King of the Gods. I possess noble lineage!"
The Goddess of Love glared resentfully at the Primordial Gods who had caused her to lose her composure, her eyes full of indignation.
The gods burst into laughter. Tyche signaled the Erinyes to step forward. "My three subordinate deities were also born from Uranus's power. Should they not also be granted the Primordial God position?"
Aphrodite looked at the goddesses' snake hair and bat wings with disgust and retorted unwillingly, "I am the embodiment of love and beauty. I bestow the concept of beauty upon all things and deserve the best of everything."
Tyche looked up at the sky. What had Eos and Pontus instilled in her? Why did she feel unable to communicate with her normally?
The gods laughed at the Goddess of Love's naivety. The Goddess of Love, who was extremely sensitive to emotions, sensed the gods' disdain and mockery and looked helplessly at Pontus, who had quietly appeared.
