Chapter 84 Zeus's Choice

Zeus's answer deftly sidestepped his grandfather's question, shifting the focus to the chief god position bestowed by the Oracle Goddess.

However, this answer pleased the Oracle Goddess greatly, and Phoebe exchanged a look with her husband, gaining a new understanding of the God of Thunder.

In the eyes of the gods, the success of the God of Disaster and the God of Thunder was inseparable from their mother, the Sky Goddess, and Tyche, the Goddess of Fortune. This sea nymph, born of divine lineage, was skilled and had long secured her seat as a chief god.

As an ally of Tyche and a firsthand witness to the flow of fate, Phoebe vaguely guessed Zeus's true origins. Coupled with Tyche's prophecy, this ancient Goddess of Fate had already understood most of the situation.

Therefore, in the Oracle Goddess's view, the God of Thunder's achievements were far from over. Raised under the tutelage of the Goddess of Fortune, Zeus inherited his mother's wisdom and foresight, and the time was almost ripe. His daughters, with their limited talents, clearly could not hold onto the chief god positions. It would be better to exchange the chief god positions for their peaceful lives. Asteria herself was not weak, and she was Tyche's best friend. Her husband, Perses, the God of Destruction, was no pushover either. Even without her parents' protection, she could live well.

However, it was different for their eldest daughter, Leto. This gentle goddess could not face the harshness of reality and could only entrust everything to a husband she could rely on, like a pampered canary.

"Leto will be a qualified wife, and you will receive the full support of the prophecy lineage!" Coeus, who had not expressed an opinion, interjected somewhat eagerly, his words in agreement with the God of Intellect sincere.

"I will have the opportunity to meet the Goddess of the Moonlit Night. Please forgive my rudeness." Zeus offered a perfect smile, bowed, and retreated without hesitation.

The Goddess of Love, as if she had seen nothing, continued to stir waves of joy at the banquet.

"Phoebe wants you to be Leto's husband?" Tyche asked in surprise at the news her son brought back.

Wasn't it Kannas? Asteria had told her it was her eldest son before, so how did it become Zeus?

Zeus nodded, "Mother, I wish to receive the revelation of fate. What will be the outcome of my marriage to Leto?"

Tyche understood. If the outcome was not the worst, Zeus would decide to contact Leto. She then closed her eyes and concentrated to make a prophecy for her son.

"After achieving supreme glory, you will conceive two powerful deities with Leto, one the eldest son who brings light to the world, and one the eldest daughter who brings fertility to nature."

Zeus leaned back in his seat, lost in thought, his chin resting on his hand. Tyche withdrew from the River of Fate and waved for the attendants to pour a cup of mead for her son. "My son, if you do not love Leto, then refuse the Oracle Goddess. I do not wish for your love to become a bargaining chip on the negotiation table!"

The God of Thunder did not agree immediately, saying in a low voice, "Even if I do not love her, I will give her the respect she deserves."

Tyche gave a wry smile and said helplessly, "Zeus, then do not regret any choice you make."

Only the innocent attendants were simply delighted by Zeus's return. Before Zeus left, the nymphs brought him many gifts. Philyra whispered to the God of Thunder, "This is the chief god's command."

Zeus looked at the dazzling array of jewelry and quickly asked the Star Gods to bring the chariot to transport these gifts.

When the nymphs learned that the chief god had allocated a territory in the sky for his son, they were somewhat disappointed. Philyra then sent Zeus an equal number of sheep as Kannas, gazing at the departing figure of the God of Thunder with reluctance.

The Invisible Island fell into complete silence thereafter. Tyche also did not appear before the gods for a long time, living a reclusive life like her mother, the Sea Goddess.

Iris brought a piece of significant news to the chief god: Zeus was going to marry Leto!

Tyche calmly accepted this fact, recalling her initial entanglement with the chaotic辈分 and ethical relationships among the gods and inexplicably finding it somewhat amusing. Now, she had completely merged into this tangled mess.

After a long period of silence, the goddess left the Invisible Island for the first time and came to Mount Othrys to witness an important moment in Zeus's long divine career.

The wedding was very grand. Tyche descended outside the temple in a chariot carried by white falcons. As a chief god, she still had some privileges.

Asteria, the Goddess of the Starry Night, rose to welcome her friend, inquiring with concern why Tyche had not left her territory for so long.

Tyche smiled and linked arms with her friend. "The origin of water guided me, allowing me to see the opportunity for the advancement of the water cycle divine position."

"This is truly something to be congratulated," Asteria said cheerfully, pulling her friend into the temple. "My dear friend, hurry and send this good news to your sons."

Zeus and Leto were receiving blessings from the gods. Kannas, hiding far away, noticed his mother at a glance and rose to greet his mother on behalf of his busy younger brother.

Tyche, not knowing how to face Leto, who was about to become her daughter-in-law, immediately went to the side of the God of Disaster. The various chief gods showed great respect to the Oracle Goddess and Tyche, all attending the wedding.

Tyche soon noticed the cold expression of the Queen of the Gods and then looked at the stunned Aphrodite. The Goddess of Love's consciousness had clearly been taken over by the Primordial God of Love. Eros greedily absorbed the emotional energy pervading the wedding scene, paying no attention to Rhea's knife-like cold gaze.

Shining butterflies flew from Tyche's hand, and her divine power of fate created a barrier between Rhea and Aphrodite. The goddess approached the Queen of the Gods and said in a low voice, "Do what you must after the wedding. I will not interfere, but I will absolutely not allow you to disrupt Zeus's wedding!"

Rhea glanced at Tyche and then turned to look at her husband not far away. "She took my love. I can no longer feel the connection with Kronos!"

The Queen of the Gods' eyes were filled with forbearance and weariness. Although she tried her best to hide these emotions, her increasingly agitated tone indicated that she was nearing her limit.

Tyche remained silent, sitting beside Rhea and constantly vigilant against her outburst. After the twisted love was taken by Eros, all that remained was a fierce tug-of-war between terrifying possessiveness and gradually recovering reason.

No one noticed anything amiss with the butterflies fluttering among the flowers. Under the influence of the Primordial God of Love, the gods were immersed in pleasure, emitting more emotional energy to provide sustenance for Eros.
