Chapter 37 The Turning Point

The majestic and beautiful Earth Goddess Gaia manifested in a radiant glow, having grown weary of the Sky God's ceaseless entanglements. The war among the gods had disturbed her slumber. Gaia sat on her throne with a frown, her agitated mood causing her to ignore the gods who rose to pay their respects.

The Memory Goddess Mnemosyne approached Gaia and quietly recounted the events to the Earth Mother. When Gaia heard that Cronus had not appeared on the battlefield to lead the gods in a counterattack, her displeasure was evident. With a wave of her hand, she dismissed the Memory Goddess and, showing no leniency towards the King of the Gods, berated her youngest son for his shortcomings in front of all the deities, demanding a convincing explanation.

The joyous atmosphere of successfully expelling the Sky God was instantly shrouded in a heavy gloom. The gods lowered their heads, daring not to meet Gaia's gaze. The temple was so silent that even the sound of breathing could not be heard.

Silence filled the temple. As time passed, Cronus, who had yet to appear, remained absent, and Gaia's expression grew increasingly grim. The gods, witnessing the Earth Mother's darkening mood, were as silent as cicadas, anxiously gazing at the temple doors, hoping for Cronus's appearance.

Gaia's anger was almost palpable, and the gods who faced her wrath swayed precariously. The Rainbow Goddesses, protected by Tyche, barely managed to stand, hiding behind Tyche's seat with lingering fear, not daring to show themselves. However, Kanas's demeanor surprised and pleased Tyche. The lesser deities and those with weak divine power, having no seats, could only stand in the temple's hall. Among the trembling lesser deities, Kanas was one of the few who stood firm. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead, almost forming a waterfall. Kanas gritted his teeth, refusing to yield, choosing to face the primal god's pressure rather than seek refuge with Tyche and Helios.

Time ticked by in silence. Just as the gods believed Gaia was about to erupt and leave in a huff, the King and Queen of the Gods finally appeared, unhurriedly. Tyche immediately focused her gaze on the Queen, carefully observing any inconsistencies. Rhea walked side-by-side with Cronus. The gods in the hall parted to make way for the King and Queen, relieved to escape the Earth Mother's wrath.

As Cronus and Rhea took their seats, Gaia immediately stood and accused, "My arrogant youngest son, Cronus, have you forgotten how you became King of the Gods?"

Cronus curved his lips into a smile. "My esteemed mother, Earth Goddess Gaia, I shall never forget."

"I used the sickle you bestowed upon me to sever Uranus's phallic symbol, preventing the sky from connecting with the earth, and thus transforming Uranus from the Father of the Gods and King of the Gods into the Sky God."

Gaia's anger was no longer concealed. "Since you remember how you replaced Uranus, then fulfill your duties as King of the Gods! Otherwise, before your son replaces you, you will fall from the throne of the King of the Gods and become the second Uranus!"

Although the curse left by the previous King of the Gods, that he would be replaced by his son, was widely known, the gods tacitly avoided mentioning it, lest they touch Cronus's sensitive nerves. Now, the enraged Gaia shattered the superficial peace, drawing all eyes to the silent Queen beside them.

Rhea lowered her head, remaining silent, seemingly indifferent to the worried or terrified gazes of the gods. However, the subsequent turn of events exceeded the gods' comprehension. The Queen voluntarily stood and confronted Gaia. "My benevolent mother! Uranus's lost phallic symbol, through your and Pontus's intervention, has already gestured the birth of new deities. Uranus can no longer reclaim this portion of power, which means he cannot become King of the Gods again!"

"Your love compels the Sky God to desire a return to the earth, therefore the responsibility of confronting Uranus should be yours!"

A commotion erupted among the gods. Gaia looked in disbelief at her daughter, who had always been close to her. The Titan main gods exchanged glances, looking at their youngest sister with bewilderment. Oceanus, the eldest brother of the Titans, voiced the opinion of his siblings. "Rhea, have you forgotten how our tyrannical father treated us? He treated us like servants and disregarded our dignity!"

Tethys, the Oceanid Goddess, her gentle demeanor replaced by a stern expression, declared, "Once the sky returns to the earth, all living beings on the earth will be destroyed in this catastrophe!"

Cronus interrupted his elder sister's words and said with a sneer, "Thanks to your good daughter, my benevolent sister. As long as our esteemed Goddess of Climate still exists, the sky domain eroded by the Goddess of Climate cannot be complete. The once mighty Sky God can now barely maintain the level of powerful divine force, no longer an unconquerable King of the Gods. My brothers and sisters, you can drive away our former father by joining forces. It is time to emerge from the shadows of the past."

"As for the other beings on earth," Cronus dismissively shifted his gaze, adding mockingly, "After our esteemed mother defeats Uranus, we can have Iapetus recreate a new batch."

The speechless Oceanus and Tethys could only sit down again. The gods' gazes turned back to Tyche, whose heart tightened, sensing great misfortune.

Before Tyche could stand to refute, the enraged Gaia swung her arm and fiercely slapped Cronus across the face. Gaia, in her fury, showed no restraint. The full force of a primal god's blow sent the King of the Gods flying. Cronus's body was embedded deeply into the temple wall, his Titan body covered in fine cracks.

The stunned gods cried out in alarm and rushed forward to help the King of the Gods up from the ruins. Tyche seized the opportunity to approach Rhea and support her arm, her fate-weaving divine power concealed in her palm.

In Tyche's view, Rhea, who appeared before her, was being controlled by Cronus, which explained her unbelievable words. To her surprise, Rhea took the initiative to grip Tyche's hand, subtly leaving a trace of divine power in Tyche's palm. She squeezed it meaningfully before quickly releasing it, then approached Cronus with a look of concern.

Tyche instinctively concealed the divine power Rhea had left in her palm and, amidst the chaos, quietly returned to her position. This sudden reversal made Tyche vigilant again. She had intended to step forward and expose Cronus's wicked deeds, but the current variables indicated an unexpected shift in events.

The current setting was not suitable for deciphering the information Rhea had left in her divine power. Tyche suppressed her gnawing curiosity, clenching her fist, her thoughts already soaring beyond the clouds.

Gaia stormed off in anger, and the Queen, supporting the King, also departed in haste. The gods, having witnessed the grand spectacle, had no inclination to stay longer and left in groups. Outside the temple, Tyche parted ways with Kanas and the Rainbow Goddesses. The Sun God and the Wind God reappeared in the sky.

Returning to the mist-shrouded Invisible Island, Tyche dismissed the gods and went alone to the pool outside the temple. Carefully setting up layers of illusions, Tyche eagerly perused the information Rhea had left. After carefully reading it, Tyche could not help but admire Rhea's decisiveness.
