Greek Mythology: The Ocean Goddess's anxiety was evident. "My daughter Tyche, hurry back to the temple in the sea. Your sister Electra is about to give birth."
Tyche finally roused herself from her despondency. She had the tree nymphs bring out freshly brewed mead and goat's milk, while she herself returned to the temple to find the colorful fabrics sent by the Night Goddesses. After tidying up, Tyche leaped into the sea and returned to her mother's temple.
Her sisters anxiously gathered around, lamenting, "Electra slept with Thaumas and conceived a pair of twins. Her divine power cannot sustain the demands of two children. We don't know what she will choose."
Tyche was greatly surprised and followed her sisters to Electra's bedside. Electra appeared very weak, while Thaumas held her hand, transferring divine power. The fatigue on his face was obvious.
"My dear sister, are you alright?" Tyche took Electra's outstretched other hand and carefully sensed the two lives gestured within her body. The twins were very active, vying for their parents' divine power to be born as soon as possible, completely disregarding their mother's pain.
Electra didn't even have the strength to speak. Her beautiful blue eyes had lost their luster, and her seaweed-like long hair was dull.
"Where is Mother?" Tyche asked her sisters worriedly. "Mother has gone to the River Okeanos to seek Father's help." The Oceanids' faces showed no less worry than Tyche's. "If Mother cannot bring back the primordial power of the ocean before the children are born, Electra and the twins will dissipate."
Thaumas's cold voice rang out, "Then kill them." His beautiful blue-purple eyes flashed with cold light. "Kill the children."
The Oceanids were stunned by Thaumas's words. Tyche then turned her gaze to Thaumas, and the two sea gods' eyes met in a fierce confrontation.
Seeing the unwavering determination in Thaumas's eyes, Tyche could only silently pray for her mother to return quickly. There was no other way. Besides the parents' power being absorbed by the children, any other divine power would cause severe harm to them. Electra, with her weak divine power, was unable to supply both children. The only solutions were to kill the consciousness of one child and transfer the power to the other, or to use the primordial power of the ocean taken from the Ocean God to increase Electra's strength.
Driven by maternal instinct, Electra refused to kill the consciousness of a child, even to the point of leaving Thaumas. As for Thaumas, the birth of the twins would harm his beloved wife, and it was clear she detested these two children.
The birth of a deity is a miracle of the world, but for the mother, it is a heavy burden. The Oceanids watched as the twins' consciousness gradually formed, while the Ocean Goddess was still absent. Their anxiety could not be calmed, and they could only comfort their suffering sister.
Tyche guarded against the increasingly agitated Thaumas, her cold ice and snow divine power held in reserve. At this moment, Electra's face was covered in sweat. The pain of her divinity being divided pierced her soul, and she could no longer suppress it, letting out a cry of agony.
Thaumas's face showed only cold hostility. His hazy divine power trapped Tyche, and he was about to strike and scatter the nascent souls. An ice wall separated him from Electra. Tyche waved her sleeve, creating an ocean current that sent Thaumas flying. She shouted in anger, "Son of Pontus, how dare you be so disrespectful in the temple of the Ocean Goddess!"
The Climate Goddess's wrath brought forth howling ice and snow. Dark clouds obscured the sky over the sea, and torrential rain poured down. The sea creatures, unsettled, moved away from this area.
"Retreat!" The ice and snow blocked the frenzied Thaumas, but it was not long before he shattered it. Thaumas conjured a massive whirlpool, and the Oceanids scattered in panic.
"Enough! This is the final warning!" Seeing the temple destroyed by the whirlpool, Tyche became furious. The power of the water cycle calmed the whirlpool, decomposing Thaumas's power into mist and ice, continuously weakening his divine might. Countless ice pillars condensed, locking the frantic Thaumas. His divine nature, the sea's wonder derived from Pontus, was also separated into ownerless divine essence. The pain of having his divinity stripped away brought Thaumas to his senses. Thaumas, silent, used all his strength to shatter the ice pillars and walked towards Electra.
Just as Tyche was about to stop him, a encompassing divine power appeared, preventing her. Tethys, the mistress of the temple, had returned. The Ocean Goddess did not pay attention to the mess. She went to her suffering daughter and placed a handful of azure primordial ocean power into her body. The primordial power from the Ocean God immediately stabilized her semi-transparent body, and the same divine nature merged, strengthening her weakened form.
The twins were born successfully. They were two beautiful goddesses. Their divine nature inherited from their father made their beauty dazzling. Various brilliant colors merged into wings, and their shining hair was mesmerizing. Thaumas picked up Electra, bowed to Tethys, and left in silence, not even glancing at his two daughters.
Tethys did not mind Thaumas's rudeness. She gently held the two children and said to Tyche, "My daughter, they have not inherited their parents' ocean divinity and cannot live underwater. Take them back to your domain."
Upon hearing this, Tyche remained silent for a long time. The Ocean Goddess gathered the divine essence that Tyche had separated from Thaumas and handed it to Tyche. "This is the reward you deserve. They are very suitable to be your subordinate deities."
Taking the transformed sea's wonder divine essence, Tyche nodded. "I am willing to accept them as my subordinate deities. What are their names?"
"The elder is Alke, and the younger is Iris."
