The drunkard roared with laughter, "This is just a hypothetical guess."
Lu Fei let out a long sigh of relief. The [Unstable Evolution] talent had always been his sole trump card. If anyone else possessed it, he truly felt he could just go hang himself with a strand of noodles.
As he was secretly congratulating himself,
He heard the drunkard's voice again, "However, it is possible to make small changes to a contract beast's abilities and attributes through the tamer's cultivation."
Lu Fei patted his chest, thinking, that's fine then, it won't affect much.
"As far as I know, there are specialized institutions on the continent that research this. If you have the chance, you might want to look into it."
Lu Fei froze.
"Specifically researching non-standard contract beasts?"
The drunkard nodded, "You could say that, but more accurately, they specialize in researching how to mutate contract beasts."
"Mutation?" Lu Fei mused silently, then asked, "What is this institution called?"
"The Xenobeast Bureau," the drunkard added. "This institution enjoys the highest research resources from the world government and holds a noble status, almost comparable to special departments that research taming scrolls."
As he spoke, he tilted his head back and took a drink, disdainfully saying, "But in my opinion, they're just a bunch of incompetent fools. They've been researching such a simple matter for so many years without any breakthroughs."
The drunkard's words were arrogant, a genuine contempt etched on his face.
"Xenobeast Bureau..." Lu Fei repeated the name to himself.
If this so-called Xenobeast Bureau specialized in researching those non-standard mutated contract beasts, then perhaps one day he would have to visit and see. Maybe there he could find the reason why he awakened the [Unstable Talent], and the origin of this talent.
More importantly, this might hold the key to his transmigration.
Lu Fei didn't pry further. If he showed too much curiosity about these matters, it might arouse suspicion. It was better to explore some things on his own.
The two of them drank and nibbled on snacks. Lu Fei also drank quite a bit, his face flushed red and feeling tipsy.
"Brother, we've killed so many contract beasts. Won't the Tamer Association come after us to arrest us and throw us in jail?"
The drunkard scoffed, "We killed rampaging contract beasts. By rights, the Tamer Association should be giving us a plaque and some rewards!"
"Moreover..."
His voice turned stern, "Never mind rampaging contract beasts, even ordinary wild contract beasts, so what? If they're trying to take your life, can't you kill them?"
He let out a chuckle, "Young man."
Lu Fei pouted. While these words sounded incredibly cruel and heartless, they weren't without reason. It was certainly better than some overly empathetic people. If one was about to be devoured by a contract beast, and someone said, "Oh, contract beasts are so cute, how can you hurt them!" httpδ:/m.kuAisugg.nět
Suddenly, the drunkard sighed, "Ah, I found that place smelly earlier and left in a hurry. I forgot to bring back a couple of freshly killed contract beasts as snacks."
Lu Fei immediately jiggled his spatial ring and offered, "I have some here!"
A moment later, he tossed out a jet-black leopard, the [Azure Moon Leopard] that Iron Head had slain.
However, the drunkard's attention was now fixed on Lu Fei's spatial ring. His eyes narrowed in thought.
"That ring of yours looks a bit familiar."
Lu Fei said sheepishly.
"Found it on the road."
The drunkard hummed, "Then pick one up for me on the road later."
As they were joking, a voice suddenly came from outside the door.
"Excuse me, is anyone in the house?"
Lu Fei and the drunkard simultaneously looked towards the courtyard gate.
"Strange, who would dare to be out in the Carefree Grassland this late? Could it be displaced citizens?"
The drunkard glanced at Lu Fei.
Lu Fei, understanding the gesture, walked towards the door.
Upon opening it, he saw a young man standing there, wearing a silver-white uniform with a "御" character embroidered on his chest.
"The Tamer Association?"
Lu Fei looked behind him and saw several people mounted on beasts, exuding an imposing aura, nothing like refugees.
Lu Fei's eyes swept over each of them.
Suddenly, he exclaimed in surprise.
"Fifth Councilor!"
Fifth He, who was leading the group, was also taken aback. He nodded emotionlessly.
"Why are you here?"
Lu Fei, with a hint of drunkenness, asked with a grin.
"I'm here on vacation."
Fifth He remained noncommittal, but a subordinate beside him retorted,
"Nonsense! There are numerous rampaging contract beasts in the Carefree Grassland. How many lives do you little fledgling have!"
Lu Fei shot the man a displeased look. Who was he looking down on? He took two steps back into the house, preparing to close the door.
"Then please, carry on. Just pretend no one is here."
"You!!!"
The subordinate jumped off his mount, pointing furiously at Lu Fei.
"That's enough!"
Fifth He stopped him and dismounted from his contract beast.
"I have one matter to inquire about, and then we'll leave."
Lu Fei naturally had no intention of actually closing the door. Speaking of which, if Fifth He hadn't appeared suddenly in court last time, the situation might have been more complicated. Thanks to his help, many things were simplified.
"Please, ask away. I will tell you everything I know."
Just as Fifth He was about to speak, a lazy voice came from inside the house.
"Kid, people are coming to visit this late, they are guests. Why are you making them stand outside?"
Lu Fei straightened his somewhat unsteady body, but since he couldn't stand straight while drunk, he simply bent his waist again.
"Please come in, everyone!"
Seeing the sudden 180-degree change in attitude, the subordinate looked somewhat bewildered. He followed them in with a forced smile.
Upon entering the inner room, the drunkard called out, "Guests, please sit down quickly." He pulled over a long bench, acting very hospitable, and then commanded Lu Fei, "Kid, go fetch a few more jars of good wine."
"Coming right up!" Lu Fei shouted and headed towards the cellar.
Fifth He didn't rush to sit. He looked around, surveying the humble furnishings of the small house. Since he didn't sit, his retinue naturally didn't dare to either.
The drunkard said casually, "Nothing much to see, just a shabby little wooden house. No one visits all year round."
"You're too modest," Fifth He said, then sat down. His gaze lingered on the drunkard, sizing him up.
"I just didn't expect such an ordinary courtyard to hide a significant figure."
"Significant figure?" The drunkard was startled but had already guessed their purpose.
He casually put down his wine bowl as if flattered and pointed a finger at himself, "Are you talking about me?"
"Hahaha, significant figure!"
He laughed heartily, tears welling up in his eyes.
The drunkard propped one foot on the bench, and coupled with his tattered attire, he exuded a sharp, detached aura of someone who sought no worldly fame.
The drunkard quipped.
"You've misjudged, sir."
