Chapter 241 Yu Heng Group

Lu Fei was stunned.

"Uncle, have you really been to the Tower of Souls?"

The homeless man shook his head hesitantly.

"I don't know, I just have some impressions, but I can't recall them."

Lu Fei secretly wondered if he had lost his memory for some reason.

He chatted with the homeless man for a while longer, but the latter didn't reveal anything valuable, just fragmented bits and pieces.

Lu Fei bid farewell and left. This time, the homeless man did not try to stop him.

Yuheng Group's headquarters were located in the suburbs, covering tens of thousands of mu, not only office buildings but also factories.

Some recreational facilities were also built around the Yuheng Group, and the entire area, centered around this location, drove the economic development of a large surrounding region.

The car stopped in front of the Yuheng Group's main entrance, and the driver turned sideways, saying helplessly, "I can't go any further in the back. Yuheng Group has very strict controls."

An elder with graying hair chuckled, nodded in understanding, then paid and gestured for a young man in the back seat to get out.

Yuheng Group was surrounded by tall, thick walls, topped with a layer of electric fencing.

Two security guards stood on either side of the main gate. Beside each guard lay a contracted beast, rare plant-type contracted beasts, climbing high iron poles with thick vines clinging to them like pythons. At the edges of the vines grew large white flower buds, closed tightly, with faint thorns protruding from their tips.

The young man secretly clicked his tongue, marveling at the extravagance of using A-grade rarity plant-type contracted beasts.

The elder with graying hair stepped forward, took a blue identification card from his pocket, and handed it to the security guard at the gate. The guard swiped it on a machine.

His expression then changed, and he quickly nodded at the elder before opening the electric gate.

"Let's go, we'll wait inside," the elder beckoned to the young man. "Don't be nervous, just treat this place like your own home, understand?"

The young man nodded. "Got it."

"Pfft." Laughter, suppressed but unable to be contained, came from behind them.

The young man turned his head and saw a lady wearing a red camisole dress covering her mouth with a light smile, her eyes almost showing crow's feet.

This aunt, he thought seriously, must be around twenty-seven or twenty-eight.

"Excuse me." Seeing the young man look over, the lady's expression turned serious, and she forced the smile back, resuming a calm and serene demeanor.

"There's a special lounge inside the group. You wait for me there for a while. We were supposed to spend time together today, but there's a last-minute issue within the group..." Beside the woman stood a man in black casual wear, appearing to be in his late fifties.

"Okay, it's alright, work comes first," the woman nodded with a gentle smile.

Entering the group, the elder led the young man on a tour around twice, then, awkwardly, they returned to their original spot.

"Ahem, it's been a while since I've been back, things have changed quite a bit here," the elder said awkwardly, leading the young man further inside under the suspicious and watchful eyes of the gate security.

"I knew it, the employee building must be here. I said we definitely didn't take this direction before. Chairman Bai really likes these flowers and plants; he's almost turned it into a grand garden," the elder complained with a smile.

Entering the conference room.

"Please have a seat," a secretary in a suit poured water for the elder and the young man. "Would you like anything to eat? I can have someone prepare it for you."

"No, thank you. We'll just sit here for a while," the elder shook his head.

"Uh, Secretary Han, it would be better to let us handle these small matters," a staff member responsible for service in the lounge said flatteringly to Secretary Han in the black suit.

Secretary Han glanced at him, a smile appearing on her face. "There are other guests in the lounge. Please don't neglect them."

The staff member showed a hint of disappointment and complied with the arrangement.

The lady in the red camisole dress, whom they had met at the company gate, happened to be sitting by the window in the lounge, reading a magazine. Her eyes swept over the young man and the elder, a hint of contemplation in their depths, before she lowered her head to continue reading.

After half an hour, Secretary Han walked in with hurried steps, her pace somewhat cheerful. Upon entering, she directly focused her gaze on the young man, walked quickly towards him, then bowed slightly and said softly, "Chairman Bai is back. He's waiting for you on the top floor."

The elder nodded, got up, and strode out of the room, with the young man following closely behind.

A staff member who was relatively close by was stunned, with only two words echoing in his mind: Chairman Bai!

There was only one Chairman Bai of Yuheng Group.

It was that man.

Entering the elevator, Secretary Han directly took out her identification card and swiped it inside, pressing the button for the thirtieth floor.

The elevator slowly ascended, the ascent smooth and almost silent.

A pleasant chime sounded as the elevator doors opened slowly.

What greeted them was a spacious living room with two sofas and a coffee table. In the corner stood two potted plants.

The overall layout was simple and clear.

On the walls hung several monster heads, processed and prepared.

There were bears, tigers, eagles, and even a shark's head.

"Uncle Han, you're here," Bai Yushu, who was standing by the window, turned to look at the young man. A warmth appeared on his cold face, as if an iceberg had melted.

The elder smiled, patted the young man's head, and led him in.

"Yushu, this is Xiao Yu, Bai Xingyu."

Bai Yushu was very pleased with the young man's arrival. He patted the young man's shoulder, his hands lingering there.

"Xiao Yu, do you know who I am?"

The young man replied with a touch of innocence.

"Are you... Dad?"

Bai Yushu laughed heartily, but there was a hint of bitterness in his laughter.

"That's right, I am your father."

The few people sat down on the sofa.

Bai Yushu's tense face relaxed slightly. He coughed a couple of times, but then continued to cough several more times. Finally, unable to hold back, he took out a handkerchief from his pocket and covered his mouth.

When he lowered it, it was stained crimson.

Han Xiu suddenly stood up.

"Yushu!"

Bai Yushu waved his hand, forcing a smile.

"It's nothing, just an old ailment."

Han Xiu sat back down, unable to bear looking further. He had known when he arrived that the man who had taken over his brother's company and built it into a commercial empire was already at the end of his rope.
