A Yellow Millet Dream

Chapter 34 He Is Not a Genius, He Is a Monster

Lu Fei stood there, stunned!

Deep within his mind, a deeply ingrained thought seemed to assault him relentlessly, leaving him speechless for a long time.

He couldn't describe his current feelings. Half of his brain was saying, "The former councilor is the leader of the Hunter organization? Heh... what's it to me?" The other half was thinking, "How is that possible! How can this be! The councilor is our guardian! The faith I've held since childhood!"

After a moment of silence.

Lu Fei finally spoke, repeating the question, "You said the leader of the Hunter organization was a former councilor?"

Chu Huainan nodded silently.

Why would a good councilor abandon his post to become a bandit? Was his brain damaged, or had he experienced some kind of shock... Lu Fei found it hard to fathom.

In the original owner's memories, from his enlightenment onwards, posters of the Seven Grand Councilors were displayed in important places like the orphanage's schoolroom, conference rooms, and the dean's office.

Whenever people around him talked about the Seven Grand Councilors, they invariably praised their great achievements, lauded their immense power, and called them the guardian deities of the Beast Taming Continent!

Their words were filled with reverence and admiration!

This belief had been deeply ingrained in him since childhood. Even though Lu Fei had only assimilated the original owner's memories, he couldn't help but feel a sense of solemn respect whenever he heard the names of the Seven Grand Councilors!

This was why, when he heard from one of the Ten Elders that a former councilor had become the leader of the greatest evil organization, he still had a moment of doubt!

Because this piece of history had never appeared in any textbook!

The Seven Grand Councilors were sacred and inviolable!

"Are you perhaps wondering why he abandoned his position as councilor to become an evil criminal, scorned and wanted by the world?" Chu Huainan proactively asked.

"You know?" Lu Fei inquired.

Chu Huainan remained silent. Suddenly, the ring on his finger glowed faintly, and then a dark gold identity tag, made of some unknown material, appeared on the table.

This identity tag had some broken edges, and a scratch ran diagonally across its surface, as if someone had deliberately slashed it with a dagger.

"Elder, what is this?" Lu Fei asked, confused.

Chu Huainan gestured towards the identity tag, indicating that Lu Fei could pick it up and examine it.

Lu Fei reached out and looked at the back of the identity tag. Although the material was good and it seemed valuable, there was nothing particularly special about it. He then flipped the tag over.

The next moment.

Lu Fei froze. The arm holding the identity tag began to tremble slightly.

This was because he saw two characters written on the front of the jade tag.

"Huangfu!"

"Hiss..." Lu Fei straightened his body. He silently processed this information for over ten seconds, swallowed, and tentatively asked, "Could it be... this identity tag belongs to Huangfu Chenyi?"

Chu Huainan nodded silently.

"Why is his identity tag in your possession?" Lu Fei was somewhat surprised. In fact, another thought crossed his mind: Chu Huainan not only knew Huangfu Chenyi, but was also very close to him!

Chu Huainan lowered his gaze, his expressionless.

"He abandoned it voluntarily, and I picked it up."

"And the scratch on it?"

"It represents a severance."

"Elder, what is your relationship with him?" Lu Fei finally asked.

Perhaps feeling tired, Chu Huainan took a few sips of his now cold tea, without tasting it.

He then refilled his teacup and Lu Fei's teacup simultaneously.

Lu Fei took his teacup, about to drink.

Chu Huainan said calmly, "I am his godfather, and also his master."

"Pfft!" Lu Fei suddenly became a sprinkler, neglecting to wipe the tea. He pushed off the table, his voice sharp as he exclaimed:

"What are you talking about?????"

Chu Huainan couldn't understand the gibberish he was speaking and took the sound as mere noise from the other person's emotional outburst.

Chu Huainan pressed his arm down, signaling Lu Fei to calm down and sit.

"Heh, don't get agitated, let me finish."

How could he not be agitated? He had told him everything, and now he was telling him that the leader of the world's most evil organization was his son... A million flying mares galloped through Lu Fei's mind.

At this point, he could only accept his fate. Lu Fei sat back down, his heart pounding like a pacemaker was at work.

"Let me tell you a story..."

With that, Chu Huainan began to reminisce.

He spoke slowly, "The year those six unknown creatures rioted, I was forty years old. At that time, I had not yet become one of the Ten Elders, but served in a secret department of the World Government. Coincidentally, on that day, I was visiting a friend's house in Yanbei City. My friend's name was Huangfu Xiao, and he was one of the Ten Elders at the time."

Lu Fei's expression changed, and he cast a questioning look.

Chu Huainan nodded. "That's right, he was precisely Huangfu Chenyi's father."

"As we were chatting, we suddenly heard a Level 1 alert siren from the city. As government personnel, we knew what a Level 1 alert meant. The Beast Tamers rushed to the origin point. You know what happened next – we encountered those six powerful unknown creatures."

"Finally, we engaged in a decisive battle with the six unknown creatures in the Glazed Illusory Realm. Two of the Ten Elders were sacrificed, and one of them was my old friend, Huangfu Xiao!"

Chu Huainan closed his eyes in silence. Even after decades, the memory of that past event was still vivid.

"After the great battle, I fell into a coma. When I woke up, I immediately returned to Yanbei City. It was already a scene of devastation, with countless casualties. I frantically ran to Huangfu Xiao's house, only to see his wife being carried out by the medical staff, her face covered with a white cloth..."

Lu Fei was astonished.

This meant that the riot had caused Huangfu Chenyi to lose both his parents simultaneously!

"I found the injured Huangfu Chenyi amidst the ruins. The child was sitting in the rubble, trembling. I could tell he was deeply saddened by his mother's death, but this child had been eccentric since childhood and poor at expressing his emotions, so his face showed no tears. I couldn't bear to tell him the news of Huangfu Xiao's death in battle."

"But paper couldn't wrap fire forever. He eventually learned the news. I thought that under this double blow, he would be utterly devastated, but he wasn't. Instead, he almost roared at me to take him to eliminate those unknown creatures!"

"Although I was also in great pain, I knew that human strength was currently insufficient to eliminate them. I tried to persuade the child kindly, but he ran off in anger. Later, I learned that this child had joined the investigation corps voluntarily established by the World Government."

At this point, a question welled up in Lu Fei's mind.

"Would the World Government allow an underage child to join the army? Even if they lowered requirements during special times, there's still the issue of strength. Isn't that just sending him to his death?"

Chu Huainan glanced at Lu Fei and smiled, shaking his head.

"Don't look at Huangfu Chenyi with the eyes of an ordinary person."

"He is a genius."

"No!" Chu Huainan corrected himself.

"Perhaps calling him a monstrous talent would be more appropriate!"
