Chapter 643: The Crying Baby
Since she couldn’t feed her son well in her past life, Bai Meiyue was determined to feed her son until he was fat and healthy. She had no desire to use someone else or feed powdered milk to her son; since she could do it, then she might as well do it on her own.
When Shen Zhen saw the determined look on her face as if she was going to fight anyone who dared to say otherwise, she couldn’t help but laugh lightly. "Ahahaha, I really hope that Fu Wan was as obedient and understanding as you. That way, my days would be much easier."
"Fu Wan?" Bai Meiyue frowned when she heard the name of her least liked woman in the safe base. Even those trespassers were not on the same plane as Fu Wan. Why? Because they didn’t cause as much trouble as that stupid woman!
"What did she do now? Hasn’t she already given birth?"
"She has but her antics are far from over," Shen Zhen sighed as she noted down some more supplements and handed the note to Nurse Lin, who took it to Master Yuan. She still felt her ears buzzing when she recalled the yelling and screaming and the fussing that woman did before leaving. After Fu Wan gave birth, her body went into shock and started trembling uncontrollably. It continued for a while, which led Fu Wan to stay quiet for only a few minutes, but that silence was nothing but the quiet before the storm.
Once Fu Wan snapped out of her shock, she declared that Bai Meiyue had poisoned her and that everyone else was her accomplice.
Even when Shen Zhen stated that it was normal, the woman didn’t believe her. She pointed at her nose and scolded her. In the end, it was Lu Yu who came to see Shen Zhen; she could no longer hear and stepped inside the labour room. He was a gentleman through and through, but Shen Zhen was his bottom line. Thus, he didn’t care about the situation Fu Wan was in and scolded her right back. He told her off for acting fussy and looking down on the resources that others would die to have.
Lu Yu even called Fu Wan spoiled and rotten for causing trouble day in and day out, and if she didn’t want to stay here anymore, then she was free to leave because she was staying in the safe base for free. They were the ones being kind to her, as Fox had not paid them anything.
Fu Wan had never been scolded like this before. She was so angry that she made a fuss and asked Xiao Chenye to take her away. She didn’t even stop when Shen Zhen told her that she needed to stay in the clinic to deal with the aftermath of delivery. But the woman outright pointed at her nose and said to her that she was doing it all because she wanted to get crystal nuclei from her.
Hearing this, Nurse Lin was so angry that she forgot all about the ethics as a nurse and said to Fu Wan that she could get out right away. They would treat the resources used on her as if dumping them in the trash can instead of taking a single penny from her.
Because of this, Fu Wan left the clinic right after she had given birth. She also wanted to take the child with her but Old Master Bai had had enough. When he heard Shen Zhen say that the baby might end up catching the doomsday virus if taken out, he straight up announced that the child was not allowed to be moved, and if she dared to cause trouble for him, then she might as well be prepared to take the responsibility.
Fu Wan dared to act recklessly in front of Shen Zhen and the rest because she knew that they couldn’t do anything; however, it was different when it came to Old Master Bai. Fu Wan knew that the man could kick her out of the Bai family with a flick of his fingers; thus, even though she was super upset, she didn’t go against Old Master Bai.
Personally, Shen Zhen believed that she only let the child stay because she was worried that something might go wrong and the responsibility might end up getting shoved on her head.
When Bai Meiyue finished listening to Fu Wan’s tales, her lips couldn’t help but twitch in amusement. She knew that the woman was problematic, but she never knew that Fu Wan was so ignorant that she would leave the clinic without proper care or management. But this had nothing to do with her. Fu Wan was not a child, and she had done all that she could for the child and the mother. If Fu Wan wanted to put her life at risk, then it was not her problem.
More importantly, she only needed to care about the child and make sure that he was safe. Since her job was done, Fu Wan was allowed to do whatever she wanted to do.
Bai Meiyue took her leave. However, before leaving, she decided to make a round of the incubator room. She was worried about the child and wanted to take a look at him. So when she arrived at the incubator room, she was greeted with a wonderful sight. Xiao Chenye was standing in the middle of the room with the baby in his arms and was trying his best to rock him to sleep. However, the baby was howling at the top of his lungs and with the baby crying, the rest of the babies were also crying.
"What’s going on?" Bai Meiyue glanced at the man and the baby before asking, "What’s up with this fuss?"
When Xiao Chenye saw Bai Meiyue, he heaved a sigh of relief. He turned to her and asked, "Miss Bai, can you take a look at the baby and see what is wrong with him? I cannot understand why he is crying so hard!"
